Fashion East looks for designers that have developed a strong signature to their work, understand the fashion industry at an international level and have reached the level required to show on-schedule during London Fashion Week. Designers should be able to produce a coherent, well edited & styled small collection that will appeal to press and buyers attending the show. It is desirable to have a BA qualification and preferably an MA. Ideally a designer will already be working with a good stylist, have a PR team and have generated some press coverage; these are desirable but not necessary criteria. Sponsorship can be offered for a maximum of three seasons. Please note that Fashion East has often followed the progress of a designer over a few seasons until the panel is satisfied they are ready to show. If you are not selected when you first apply, you may still be invited to submit work again at a later date. Designers must reapply each season.
Stage 1 - Application Form
Fill in the application form (Doc) stating your interest in womenswear catwalk, menswear catwalk or menswear installation. Email it to firstname.lastname@example.org along with an up-to-date CV, images of your work and any press coverage you may have. Please do not send garments, portfolios or any other materials by post. Your completed form will be reviewed and you will be informed by email if your application has been accepted to the next round.
Womenswear AW20 applications are now closed.
Menswear applications will open for SS21 around March 2020.
Stage 2 - Submission of Samples
If you have been shortlisted you will be contacted by email and invited to meet Lulu Kennedy, Director of Fashion East, for a brief and informal interview. At this meeting you are encouraged to bring along samples and your portfolio.
Stage 3 - Panel Selection
Lulu Kennedy will meet with the Fashion East and MAN panels to select three womenswear and three menswear designers from the shortlist to take forward to show at Fashion East and MAN. Once the final selection is made, designers will be notified whether or not they have been successful.
